# Payments

> Cash-out guides for V2: paying Pix keys, BR codes, bank accounts, boletos, utility bills, taxes and DARFs from your bank accounts.

A payment is money that leaves one of your bank accounts. On the API every payment debits the `bank_account_id` you send and creates an **out document** whose status you follow through webhooks or by reading the document.

Pix can be paid in two ways. Asynchronously, you send the Pix key or BR code (the Pix copy-and-paste code) and Trio checks it while processing the payment. In two steps, you check the key or BR code first and pay with the resulting `check_id`; the same endpoint also pays a bank account directly. Besides Pix, you can check and pay boletos, utility bills, taxes and DARFs.
